Le protoxylème écrasé de Cornus sericea L.

The young internodes of Cornus sericea L. represent another example of early crushed protoxylem. In this case, the détérioration is not only due to the passive élongation of the tracheary éléments during intercalary growth, but also to crushing produced by the multiplication of the parenchyma cells of the protoxylem.
