The twentieth volume of this excellent series is dedicated to the bryologist Dr. William Campbell Steere, one of the founder editors and former co-editor of the series, on the occassion of this eightieth birthday. The first chapter gives an outline of Dr, Steere’s life and outstanding carreer, including a complete bibliography of his 511 scientific publications, 98 of which were published after this retirement of administration in 1973.
