Two males of Saitis barbipes (Simon, 1868) (Salticidae) were captured in the Netherlands (Oegstgeest, Province of Zuid- Holland) on two occasions, in 1979 and 2000. Either case could be explained by visits to France and introductions into the Netherlands of this in France locally common salticid spider. The two observations demonstrate how easily this spider can be transported and, in one of the cases, how long it can survive under the severe conditions of being imprisoned in a folded tent during nearly one year.
