Thanatus vulgaris Simon, 1870 in Nederland (Aranaea, Philodromidae)

Thanatus vulgaris Simon, 1870 was found in the Netherlands for the first time. The distribution pattern in Europe is briefly outlined and discussed. The occurrence in the Netherlands is considered to be a natural phenomenon and not an example of import of an exotic species, since it is a Palaearctic species which can widen its range and settle in new places when the local habitat is suitable.
