Organized by Birdquest Ltd. Britain, spring 1991 a group of Dutch birders made an ornithological journey to the Soviet Far East. Visited were South Sakhalin, areas in Ussuria around the town of Khabarovsk and Trans Baikal with the deltas of the Selenga River and the Northern Angara River. Also steppe-areas south of Ulan Ude were visited. Almost 300 birdspecies were observed. A systematic list of the birdobservations will be drafted. One of the highlights was the observation of Spoon-billed Sandpiper and Normann’s Greenshank on Sakhalin.
