During 1986-95, a January census of wintering raptors was performed in an area of 290 km² of mainly farmland in the SW Netherlands. Common Buzzards and Kestrels were numerous, but four other species were seen each year and another five species stayed in the area less frequently. Overall, numbers have gradually increased in 1986-95. A White-tailed Eagle, seen from 2 November 1993 till 13 January 1994, carried a Polish colour ring.
