In addition to standardized monitoring and tracking breeding success in fixed plots (cf. van Manen 1996), raptors are being surveyed in most other parts of the province of Drenthe as well. Sampling here is less standardized, using a variety of methods, from monitoring a single nest to low-intensity mapping, ringing and covering small plots. However, these data form a substantial addition to the material from standardized plots, as can be seen from Table 1. Important extra information was gathered on Honey Buzzard, Goshawk, Sparrowhawk, Common Buzzard, Hobby and Kestrel. A single Red Kite may have bred just across the border in Germany. Many cases of human persecution were recorded.
