Almost beneath a Goshawk nest (only 15 m away) in the dunes of the western Netherlands, the remains of a depredated nest of a Chaffinch were found. It is hypothesised that the Goshawk had taken the entire Chaffinch nest (which contained feathers of Goshawk, Mallard and Common Snipe) during the nestling stage. A similar case has been described for a Goshawk nest in France in 1995, where two depredated songbird nests were found close to the nest of a Goshawk (Vlugt 1995).
