On 21 April 2001, an adult male Goshawk was repeatedly -but unsuccessfullyattempting to catch ducklings of Mallard in a canal in the western Netherlands. Its method consisted of a slow fluttering flight only 50 cm above the water surface, occasionally dipping its talons into the water to try and capture the diving ducklings. During one of these attempts, it landed on the surface and stayed afloat for several seconds before fluttering to the border of the canal to dry its feathers.
