On 16 February 2001, a Goshawk was seen capturing a swimming Coot. The Goshawk attacked the coot at high speed, and captured it with a sudden dive unto the water surface. It stayed there for some time with flapping wings and holding the coot, before labouring towards the shore. When being approached, it let go of its prey and disappeared. The coot was captured and examined; it bled from the beak but otherwise seemed unharmed. After being released it swam away.
