On 10 October 2002, 25-30 Red Kites were seen circling and calling near Chalon-sur-Saône in Bourgogne, France. The birds used the undulating countryside to gain height before gliding down in a southerly direction. Two weeks later, at about the same site, three more migrating Red Kites disappeared in a southwesterly direction.
