On 15 March 2003, an adult Northern Goshawk attempted to capture ducks, which – upon emergence of the Goshawk – left the vicinity of the shore and flocked in the centre of a pool (>50 Teal, and some Gadwalls, Northern Shoveler, Mallards and Little Grebe present) after having left the cover of bushes on the shore. The Goshawk unsuccessfully attempted to capture a duck by flying straight into the flock (landing on the water), and again when a Shoveler drake rose from the water (which escaped miraculously by diving straight back into the water).
