During visits to a nest of a Eurasian Hobby in the central Netherlands (heathland, surrounded by woodland and small villages) between 6 July and 6 August 2004, the head, four left wings and three right wings of bats were recorded. The head unmistakably belonged to a Serotine, the wings probably too. The nest site with 4 chicks was located on a heath of 14 ha, about 1 km southwest of the small village of Niersen, part of small-scale farmland with fields, hedgerows, clear-fellings and woodland.
