The German female White-tailed Eagle “Anna”, that stayed in the Oostvaardersplassen in winter 2004/05, remained in the area during summer 2005. She was accompanied by an adult male, presumably the same as in winter 2004/05. This is the first record of summering pair of White-tailed Eagles in The Netherlands. Although the female was seen collecting sticks, nest building was not recorded yet. As large mature trees are lacking in the Oostvaardersplassen, and regrowth is prevented by grazing of large herbivores, nest building may prove impossible to realise in the area.
