In 2005-07, a female Buzzard nesting in a woodlot surrounded by farmland attacked runners (respectively balding and with a shock of hair) once or twice when within 200- 300 m of her nest. When running people switched to walking, attacks failed to occur. All attacks were from behind, and never made contact. Most attacks were in late June and early July, suggestive of the last part of the nestling cycle or early fledging stage. The attack itself was silent, but was preceded by alarm calling and low-circling.
