In 2008, two Ospreys took up residence at a stopover site in the western Netherlands, where they ranged 3.5-4.0 km whilst foraging along a water course. The adult, presumably a male considering the lack of breast markings, stayed from 31 August through 11 September, the juvenile from 9 September through 3 October. During the period of overlap the adult bird was apparently dominant over the juvenile, perhaps the reason why the juvenile fed and roosted at some distance from the foraging site (750 m). As soon as the adult had departed the juvenile started roosting closer to the feeding grounds (100 m).
