On 12 March 2009, 23.45 h winter time, a female Sparrowhawk hit a window pane of an isolated house in the partly forested countryside of the northern Netherlands. Upon inspection, the Sparrowhawk had disappeared, but fresh feathers of a Blackbird Turdus merula at the scene suggested that the bird may have attempted to capture (successfully?) a prey at night.
