Despite the presence of large numbers of potential prey, a female Peregrine was found killing and eating a Carrion Crow on 23 February 2009 in the southwestern Netherlands. This prey was apparently taken from a flock of some 25 crows, which had panicked just prior to the kill (the actual kill was not witnessed). The Peregrine started plucking and eating before the prey was dead. She was soon accompanied by a male Peregrine, which, however, was not allowed to join in. The crow party refrained from harassing the Peregrine.
