Three out of 90 Buzzards (3.3%) captured with a bal-chatri in the central Netherlands between February 2010 and March 2011 showed malformations or were diseased, i.e. a bird with a malformed bill (second calender-year, only 400 g), another with a broken tarsus that had healed wrongly (an adult male, 590 g), and a case of bumblefoot (second calender-year, 750 g). Another bird captured elsewhere was found to have a straight rear claw. Finally, a Buzzard with malformed bill was photographed; this bird fed on earthworms.
