Zwangere jonge Postduif Columba livia tijdens wedvlucht door Havik Accipiter gentilis geslagen

In July 2011, during regular surveys in territories of Goshawks in the dunes along the coast of the western Netherlands, the carcass of a recently plucked Racing Pigeon was found with an almost completed egg. The rings showed that this pigeon had been raised during the past winter, a strategy of some fanciers to be able to fly with young pigeons early in the following summer.
