In the summer of 2011, a Buzzard breeding on the Wadden Sea Island of Terschelling caused some uproar as it attacked passing cyclists near its nest. After a sign was erected to explain this behaviour, most tourists were happy to see a glimpse of the birds and their chicks. Local people, however, complained that the Buzzards took all their chickens (but not checked), although much of the Buzzard’s food apparently consisted of Rabbits Oryctolagus cuniculus.
