A juvenile, colour-ringed White-tailed Eagle was recorded in the province of Groningen whilst hunting five domesticated geese in a ditch. Subsequent research revealed that the bird had been captured as a weakened juvenile male in Niedersachsen (NW-Germany) on 27 July 2010, taken to a rehabilitation centre, and eventually released near Bremerhaven (Niedersachsen) on 10 November 2010. Between 30 January and 9 February 2011, nine observations of presumably this individual were recorded in the province of Groningen, with some more (but not necessarily the same individual) elsewhere in The Netherlands until it was last seen at Oostvaardersplassen on 6 March 2011 (positive identification).
