On the Wadden Sea Island of Terschelling, an adult female Peregrine Falcon captured an adult Brent Goose on 24 January 2012. The bird had been part of a flock of 600 geese. The actual kill was not witnessed, but deduced from the panicked flight of the flock and other birds nearby. The falcon immediately started plucking, although the goose was still alive and struggling. It took about five minutes before the goose was dead. The falcon fed for some thirty minutes, starting at the neck and dorsal side. On Terschelling, this was the second Brent Goose found killed by a Peregrine.
