The sightings of Anax junius in southwestern Great Britain in September 1998 are discussed in the light of weather influences, earlier sightings of Nearctic Odonata in Europe and the prospects for the species in The Netherlands. For this purpose the identification of A. junius in comparison with Anax imperator is clarified and illustrated.
