In addition to earlier articles on the occurrence of common geese and Egyptian Goose in the grasslands of the Leekstermeer area in North-Drenthe, this article gives a detailed description of the rarer geese species. Distribution in the study area, (long-term changes in) abundance, seasonal pattern and flock size are dealt with (see figures and tables). A conflict between nature conservation and geese is possible in the future, because botanical values are prevalent in the Leekstermeer area. This may result in the conversion of highly productive grassland into poor grassland; the latter is unfavourable for geese.
