Standardised mapping of breeding birds has been carried out in the valley of the Andersche Diep (180 ha) since 1986. The grasslands mainly consist of Potentilla anserina, Holcus lanatus and Cynosurum cristatus. The area is being grazed by some 180 cows. As elswhere in the Netherlands. Black-tailed Godwit and Snipe are in decline, but rough grazing has created suitable breeding sites for Stonechat and possibly Red-backed Shrike.
