During 25-29 April 2003 a Hoopoe was observed behind the farm of farmer Venema in Peize. The solitary bird spent most of the time foraging on earthworms and probably leatherjackets in a meadow, The non-stop foraging likely indicated a necessity to regain weight before resuming migration.
