Census of breeding birds in the grasslands of Eener- 6c Tempelstukken (736 ha) in NW-Drenthe in 1994- 2009 revealed declining numbers of waders and increasing numbers of songbirds (Fig. 2,3,4, Appendix l).Thc population of ducks, Common Quail and Com Crake was fluctuating (Fig. 5). During 1994-2009 the farmland area diminished in favour of set-aside farmland. Reproduction figures in waders in 2006-08 were low (Table 1). Especially songbird species profited of the set-aside and the increase of rough grassland vegetations (Fig. 6).
