Birdwatchers in the province of Drenthe were asked to report observations of birds in Common Juniper. The observed species are listed in Table 1. Almost all observations (168 questionnaires) were done during or shortly before or after the breeding season. For this reason some characteristic winter-species like the Great Grey Shrike are lacking. As can be seen in Table 1 and Fig. 1, the species visiting Common Juniper to a high extend depend on the environment in which the Junipers are growing, i.e. heath or woodland. Many species use the dense structure of Common Juniper to build their nests (Table 2).
