The crash of certain Guillemot populations in northern Norway and other arctic or subarctic regions is reviewed and briefly discussed. Serious declines were reported on Bear Island, North Norway and the Faeroe islands. Further crashes are know from West Greenland colonies. The Barentsz Sea crash is linked with recruitment failure of Capelin stocks, caused by an inflow of Atlantic water masses, and predation by Herring (Capelin-larvae) and Cod. The effect of Capelinfishery on the crash is probably overestimated.
