Nearly all marine mammals observed were recorded during offshore surveys on board vessels. The following cetaceans were recorded: A lethal virus-infection which came from the North (Skagerrak), infected many Common Seals Phoca vitulina from the Wadden Sea population. Many dead or dying seals were found in the vicinity of this area. A lew were found on the mainland coast of Holland and in the Delta area.
