As usual, roost marine mammals were observed during ship-based surveys. The Recent Reports concentrate on the southern North Sea, but a series of whales and dolphins seen slightly further to the north in September is added this time. The waters off the east coast of Britain have been surveyed rather thoroughly this autumn, particularly in September, and a comparison of the number of cetaceans seen off Scotland (Aberdeen-Peterhead and off the Firth of Forth, CJC, JdO), and off (north-)eastern England (CJC, GOK, ML, RW) seems interesting enough.
