The number of Porpoises seen from coastal sites in Noord Holland in spring has increased considerably in recent years. Following the remarkable group in 1988 (Lagerveld 1988, Sula 2(1):20-21), a series of observations in spring 1989 (see also Sula 3(1):38) is an encouraging sign. Is the Harbour Porpoise returning in our waters? Another interesting series of records is listed below. On 29 March 1989, 4 small herds of Harbour Porpoises were seen moving SSE, swimming slowly in waters between the Dogger Bank and the Bruine Bank.
