On 29 November 1990, an albinistic Red-throated Diver was observed during seawatching at Camperduin (Noord-Holland). In flight the bird seemed completely white, except light brown feathers on rump, tertials and upper wing coverts. When swimming it could be seen that on head and neck some very vague ’adult winter plumage’ pattern was present. Since seawatching commenced in 1972, thousands of divers are seen annually in the Netherlands, but this is the first record of its kind.
