Het voedsel van Aalscholvers Phalacrocorax carbo op Terschelling in de nazomer
Sula , Volume 8 - Issue 3 p. 229- 234
Regurgitated pellets of Cormorants were collected on a roost at the Wadden Sea island Terschelling. All otoliths present in these pellets were sorted and identified to species. Regressions were used to back-calculate the fish size. in total fish length and fish mass. In total, 13 species of fish were identified. The flatfish Plaice, Flounder, Sole and Dab were the most important in terms of biomass ingested, whereas Gobies were the most numerously taken fish. On average, the fish mass represented per pellet was 240 gram. However, this figure is an underestimate, because no allowance was made for otolith wear.
