In a formal agreement, signed by national authorities of the Ministry of Transport and Public works and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, local authorities, researchers and rehabilitators, the Dutch Seabird Group is given a crucial role in future wildlife responses during oil spills. Their role will be advisory during the search and rescue of seabirds and to conduct the necessary data collection on site.
