This paper reports the sighting of a leucistic Sooty Shearwater off Beagle Channel, S Argentina. The plumage characteristics were described and some photographs were obtained, such that future sightings of aberrant plumages elsewhere within the Atlantic flyway of this species can be compared with this individual. The migration routes of Sooty Shearwaters within the Atlantic is not particularly well known and sightings of unique individuals could be useful to prove that birds from certain parts of the South Atlantic do indeed travel north and reach the east coast of North America, Canada or European waters. Some other cases of ‘unusual’ plumage patterns in Sooty Shearwaters in European waters are described.
