New expansion records for Meconema meridionale The past decade has shown a consideral extension of M. meridionale towards central and northern Europe. Two new records from Saint Mihiel (France, Meuse) and Vienna show that the species is still expanding. The Vienna record fits earlier expansion records which are also from cities. This might be explained by dispersal by cars, but given the distribution pattern it can also, and probably better, be explained by bulk transport over large rivers. The Vienna specimen can be considered as a traffic victim; possibly looking for ’traffic victims’ is a good method for finding this species in August and September.
