Large numbers of Aglais urticae and Autographa gamma were reported In The Netherlands in late summer 1991. To a large extent this was due to the cold, wet spring, in which food plants could develop well, followed by a warm, dry summer. Other butterfly species decreased because of the seasonal weather this year.
