Kiezen tussen verschillende klaversoorten

Polyommatus icarus lives in grasslands and verges rich in clover species and other flowers. Its main food plant is Common Bird's-foot Trefoil. In Zoetermeer (province South Holland), where this plant does not grow, observations were made of the ovipositing behaviour of P. icarus. The female butterfly laid her eggs on different clover species with a preference for Lesser Trefoil.
