During the last few years the Dutch Butterfly Foundation Is receiving fewer observations of the Large Copper (Lycaena dispar subsp. batava). A description is given on the disappearing of the Large Copper from ‘de Wieden’. Not the acidification of the vegetation, but the proceeding succession and wrong management has caused its decrease. The open reedvegetation, important to the Large Copper, has disappeared.
