In recent years Thaumetopoea processionea has become a serious pest in southern parts of The Netherlands, It is expected that the population will decrease in the near future, but in the meanwhile they will cause much nuisance. Possible control strategies are discussed. A decision model was developed to predict population development and the necessity for control measures.
