The Painted Lady (Cynthia cardui) is a migratory butterfly which is found each year in the Netherlands in varying numbers, depending on its reproduction in the Mediterranean countries and on the weather conditions. During a spring holiday in the Pyrenees, an impressive migratory flight of countless Painted Ladies was seen. The butterflies were all heading in a northeasterly direction.
