Op zoek naar Lefeber’s eerste vangsten

We went looking in the NCB Naturalis (Leiden) collections for the first bees and wasps collected by brother and colleague Virgilius Lefeber (deceased: 2007). We discovered a Vespa crabro (1933: Zevenaar) and a Xylocopa violacea (1951: Helmond) that could possibly explain his interest in wasps and bees. We include an overview of Lefeber's numerous catches in Belgium and in other countries.
