This book treats the  species of ground-beetles (Carabidae) known from the Netherlands. The tradition of ecological research in this country by pitfall-trapping has yielded an enormous amount of ecological data. They form an important basis for the ecological summaries and conclusions in this book. For all species we provide a map of its distribution in the Netherlands, a map for Europe, and a phenological diagram. For many species we also provide a graph representing its habitat. Both drawings and photographs richly illustrate this book. In this summary we concentrate on information important for understanding the Dutch carabid fauna and the explanation of the format of the species’ treatment.
