The chemical composition of the sphaerocrystals from the midgut of representatives of 9 orders, including a not further identified Gomphus larva, was determined. In the latter Ca, Mg, Mn and Fe were found. The midgut sphaerocrystals are not identical with those found in the Malpighian tubules.
