A note on the dragonfly folk names in Nepal

A list of six dragonfly folk names as used in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, is given, viz. three in Nepali, two in Newari and one in the Tibetan language. Save for one, the etymological explanation of which could not be found out, they are all related to various natural features of dragonflies, and are often brought in connection with some mythological creatures. As it appears the Sherpas of the Khumbu Himal, Everest area, do not have a word for dragonfly.
