Terrestrial larvae of Odonata from New Caledonia (Zygoptera: Megapodagrionidae; Anisoptera: Synthemistidae)

The terrestrial damselfly larva from New Caledonia described by L1PP1TT WILLEY (1955, Psyche 62: 137-144) is identified as Caledargiolestes uniseries (Ris), and the larval habitat is described. Larvae of Synthemis miranda Selys and of an undescribed Synthemis species have been reared from similar terrestrial and semi-terrestrial habitats. Larvae previously identified by supposition as C. uniseries and S. miranda prove not to be those species.
