E. erici is described and figured from: El Muro, km 16 Rte 131, Altotonga-Tlapacoyan, Veracruz State, Mexico, and from Pemuxtitla, Rio Zacuala, and Molango, Laguna de Atezca (stream), both in Hidalgo State, Mexico. The allotype <J of E. agkistrodon is described and illustrated from: Coatepec, Rio La Marina, Veracruz State, Mexico. Both are most closely related to E. schausi Calvert, but differ in details of the appendages and occiput.
