ENDANGERED DRAGONFLIES IN WESTERN SWITZERLAND – A list is given of 73 spp., among which Calopteryx xanthostoma (Charp.), based on a specimen almost a century old, is recorded from Switzerland for the first time, bringing the number of spp. known from the Swiss territory up to 79. The status of Gomphus flavipes (Charp.) in the Swiss fauna is considered. Methods for estimating species rarefaction are discussed. The present status for each species in W. Switzerland (“Suisse romande”) is stated (13 extinct, 14 near extinction, 9 strongly menaced, 8 menaced).
